South Asia's Corn Production Expected to See Slight Increase in 2025

Corn production in the South Asian subcontinent is projected to experience a slight increase in 2025.

First, India, a key country in South Asia, is implementing agricultural subsidies that not only encourage food production but also bolster support for biofuels. As a vital food source and a crucial raw material for ethanol production, corn stands to benefit from these policies. Additionally, the Indian government places significant emphasis on agricultural science and technology research and promotion, aiming to boost the yield and quality of food crops through initiatives like cultivating new varieties [1].

Furthermore, the growth of Bangladesh's feed and food processing industries is leading to increased demand for corn, which could stimulate a small rise in corn production.

Although the United States is still predicted to top the list for corn production in 2025 [2], the developments in the South Asian subcontinent should not be overlooked.
