Corn crushing and germ separation(4)

The soaked corn is subjected to separation screening and then enters a first-stage degerming mill. During this process, the corn is broken into 4 to 6 pieces, of which the proportion of reshaped corn does not exceed 1%, and the separation rate of germ reaches 75% to 89%. At the same time, 20% to 25% of starch is released. The crushed corn is transported to the primary germ cyclone separator by a germ pump. The germ flows out from the top of the separator and enters the washing system, while the liquid at the bottom passes through the separation screen and then enters the secondary degerminating mill. In the secondary degerminating mill, the corn is further broken into 10 to 12 segments. At this time, the slurry does not contain intact corn kernels, and the proportion of germ in the combined state does not exceed 0,3%. The slurry after secondary crushing is pumped to the secondary germ cyclone separator through germ pumping. The liquid at the top re-enters the primary germ separator, while the slurry at the bottom enters the fine grinding process.
