Cameroon Government to Increase Investment in Road, Energy, and Agro-Industrial Project Upgrades
EcoMatin reported on September 23 that Cameroonian President Paul Biya recently signed four decrees approving new external loans totaling over €252 million (approximately 161 billion Central African Francs). These funds will finance upgrades to road, energy, and agro-industrial projects. The financial institutions involved include the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Deutsche Bank Spain, and Standard Chartered Bank London, with partial financing guaranteed by BPI France Assurance Export.
Additionally, China has become Cameroon’s second-largest export market. In 2024, China imported Cameroonian products worth 5,351 billion Central African Francs (approximately US$891 million). After the upgrade of Cameroon’s industrial production lines, some of the resulting products can be sold to China.
Thus, the upgrade of Cameroon’s industrial production lines is timely.
