Great Potential in Cassava Processing in Peru

Cassava is one of Peru’s major staple crops, with an annual output of approximately 1–1.3 million tons, and is known as the “root of life.”
At present, Peruvian cassava starch is used domestically and also exported to neighboring countries such as Colombia. In addition to food use, it is widely applied in fields such as animal feed and bioethanol raw materials.
With the development of technology and productivity, cassava output will continue to increase. Moreover, beyond food consumption, cassava starch will expand into broader industrial and other application fields.
Therefore, it has become urgent to carry out industrial upgrading and build cassava starch production lines, processing raw cassava into cassava starch and its by-products (such as fiber, which can be used for feed processing to increase economic benefits).
