China-India Economic and Trade Relations Entering a Steady Recovery Phase

On August 31, 2025, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi traveled to Tianjin to attend the SCO Summit, marking his first visit to China since 2018 and signaling that China-India relations have entered a stable phase of recovery. [1]

According to India’s Economic Times, official Indian data shows that in the first four months of the 2025–2026 fiscal year (April–July 2025), India’s goods exports to China grew by 20% year-on-year, reaching $5.76 billion (approximately ₹501.12 billion), with monthly export figures consistently exceeding those of the same period last year. [2]

India’s imports from China are mainly electronics, machinery, and chemical products, while its exports to China focus on energy, agricultural products, and some industrial goods. [2] Bilateral economic and trade relations are poised for stable and long-term development.
