The Wide Applications of Starch

Starch has a wide range of applications. In addition to direct consumption, it can be used in:

1. Food Industry: In the food industry, starch is used to produce thickeners, gel agents/stabilizers, emulsifiers, gelling agents, molding agents, leavening agents, sweeteners, and anti-caking agents.

2. Industrial Uses: In industrial production, starch is used to manufacture sizing agents, adhesives, and coatings for the paper industry; sizing agents and finishing agents for the textile industry; and biodegradable plastics, dextrin, and starch glue.

3. Pharmaceutical Industry: In the pharmaceutical industry, starch is used to produce fillers and binders, as well as absorbable suture shells, hemostatic sponges, and drug carriers. It can also be hydrolyzed to produce glucose.

4. Other Applications: Starch also plays an important role in the cosmetics industry, foundry industry, furniture cleaning, and other fields.
